We’re recruiting for an enthusiastic removals porter to join our award-winning team. You must be physically fit, enjoy manual labour and be hard working. Additionally, you need to be a strong team player and have good communication skills. You will be entering customer’s homes and handling their possessions, therefore you must be professional, courteous and well presented at all times.

As an expanding family business, based in Ashford, Kent, we are looking for the right individual to join our house removals company. We are passionate about delivering the very best removals with outstanding customer service and are looking for a porter who wants to be part of a top performing team.

You will be required to assist in packing, loading and moving customer’s furniture and belongings. As piano removals specialists you will also be handling these delicate instruments. A full induction and ongoing training programme will be provided for all aspects of the job.

Removals Porter Details

The job will entail:

Vehicle Preparation.
Packing.
Loading and unloading customer goods.
Piano Moving.
General deliveries.
Paperwork in support of the above activities.

This is a full time position with flexible start and finish times to meet customer demand, most days are from around 7.30am to 4.30pm. We mainly provide removals across Kent, such as Maidstone, Canterbury and Ashford, and London with some wider UK and European work. As such, the job demands some nights away from home and you will need a valid passport. A full and clean driving licence is desirable and previous knowledge of the removals industry would be advantageous.

More Homeowners Moved House in 2014 than have since 2007

More people moved house last year than have in the last seven years, according to the latest Lloyds Bank Homeowners Review. In total an estimated 365,400 people moved house in 2014, up 8% on 2013. This is good news for the housing market and demonstrates the growing levels of confidence.

Moved House Prices Up

Lloyds report that house prices also rose 8% in 2014. This is good news for people previously in negative equity and it also makes it easier for people to make their next move up the property ladder. As Andy Hulme, Lloyds Bank mortgages director, said:

The resulting higher levels of equity in their property are providing homeowners with more funds to finance the purchase of their next home.

The number of people who moved house has grown by 16% since the bottom of the housing depression in 2009. Even though the number who moved house has increased over the last few years, it is still way below the record set in 2004 (886,700) and just above the average between 2004 and 2007 (717,025).

Lloyds predict that house prices will continue to rise in 2015 allowing those people who bought properties at the peak of the housing boom to move back into positive equity. This should all help to keep the housing market moving and allow people to continue to climb the property ladder. The expectation is the 2015 results will show more people moved house yet again.

Whilst that is all positive, there remains a regional pricing divide for those trying to get on the second rung of the housing ladder. In the South East house house prices have risen by 33% in the last 5 years and London has seen 50% growth, vice price changes of 16% and 14% in the North and in Wales respectively.

The report provides an indication of how busy the housing market is again becoming, as well as all the associated businesses, such as estate agents, solicitors and, of course, removal companies. Therefore anyone looking to move home should plan well ahead and book the services of their preferred agents and house removals firms as early as possible. The earlier you contact your removal company the sooner they can begin to help you manage your move, even if you haven’t got a moving date.

Moving Christmas Wishes and A Happy New Year

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team at Colin Batt Removals. Whilst we pride ourselves on being great removers the ultimate removal man has to be Father Christmas. He can deliver to every child in the land in one night…phew – just think of all those stairs and chimney pots! Whilst Father Christmas will be busy moving heaven and earth to get all the pressies to the kids, we will take a well earned break, the office will be shut from 24th December but we’ll be back to look move your house or piano from 5th January 2015. That said the phone will be periodically monitored for any emergency calls, just in case Santa needs a hand moving your new piano upstairs!

2014 was a great year and that is thanks to all the hard work the whole team put in. A big thank you to all our Porters who move your furniture, the office staff who arrange your removal and the management team who look after the rest of the staff. To celebrate we all had a Christmas party in Canterbury, Kent and had a traditional Indian curry! The vindaloo was too hot for everyone even in the depths of December.
