REMOVALS AND STORAGE FAMILY
Colin Batt Removals is your family-run, multi-award winning house removals and storage company based in Kent and established by Colin in 1978. It has been built on his values of honesty, integrity, pursuit of excellence and a commitment to meticulous service. These values, combined with our relentless pursuit of customer satisfaction, are reflected in our motto ‘Where Service is Key’.
Starting with a single van from a bungalow in Bethersden we have grown and grown. We now operate a fleet of vehicles and lorries and have a staff of 15. Over the years we have moved ourselves; operating from Bethersden, then Challock, Faversham and now you can find us on Maidstone Road in Ashford. Whilst we have grown we remain a family owned and run business, we are a removals family in every sense of the words. In fact two other families, two brothers and a father and his two sons, are part of our great company.
Since the very beginning Colin Batt Removals has been expert in moving pianos. This is a unique and specialised skill that requires an eye for detail and precise planning. Especially if you need to manoeuvre a piano through a second floor window! Our team are highly experienced and skilled moving pianos and are the go-to guys for many local piano dealers and tuners. Award Winning Removals Services
Whilst our removal and storage company started small we have large ambitions and strive to be the best in the business. We are proud to say that our dedication and customer focus has been recognised. In 2017 we won the Ashford Business Award for Customer Service, this was open to all businesses from Ashford, Dover, Hythe, Folkestone and Romney Marsh. In 2018 this was followed but the Kent Excellence in Business Award for Customer Service, open to all businesses in Kent. The final cherry on the cake was to reach the final of the British Association of Removers Domestic Mover of the Year Competition. This is open to all members of the Association from across the country and we are proud to say we reached the final three. These great achievements are only possible because of the hard work and dedication of the whole team.
You may have also noticed the QSS logo on our website. In 2018 we achieved British Standard Accreditation for Household Furniture Removals BSI EN 21522, more independent verification of our quality house removals and storage services.

Meet the Removals Family
Simon Batt – Owner and Managing Director
Simon is the proud owner of Colin Batt Removals and heads up our removals family. Having grown-up on the removal lorries Simon has a deep understanding and enthusiasm for the business. Whilst he is presently also working in the RAF, as a Typhoon pilot, he is deeply involved with the business. Simon is passionate about upholding the Company’s values and fantastic reputation (Check out our reviews at Referenceline or Checkatrade). Working daily with Andrew Urquhart, Simon is in-charge of the business and loves the fact we help our customers move home and start new and exciting chapters in their lives. Simon is supported by his beautiful wife, Elaine, without whom he would not be able to keep going.
Andrew Urquhart – Operations and Business Manager
Andrew manages Colin Batt Removals and is ready to deliver on our motto “Where Service is Key”. With a background in professional golf and as service manager with several premium brand car manufacturers, Andrew is perfectly placed to provide the levels of dedication, service and quality you rightly demand. Andrew and Simon actually grew up together in Ashford having met through golf and the Air Training Corps.
Emily is the heart of the office and will likely be the first person you speak to when you contact us. She is committed to customer service and has a degree in Business and Education from Canterbury Christ Church University. Emily is here to help you through all your house moving requirements and will provide advice and support throughout your house or piano move.
Colin Batt – Founder
Colin has spent over 40 years in the industry and there is little he doesn’t know about moving house. Colin is now a less hands-on, as a Director he guides and shape the future of the removal firm and team. When not at the office Colin can usually be found on the golf course attempting to perfect his swing.
Melanie Batt – Co-Founder
Melanie has been the backbone of the business since its formation, running the office and the administrative functions as well as raising Simon and the rest of the family. Alongside Colin, Melanie has pretty much seen it all; from grand pianos manoeuvred with cranes and furniture transported to an island by speed boat.
